Julie Peoples-Clark, RYT, is certified in Yoga for the Special Child™, a Registered Svadhyaya Yoga Teacher with the National Yoga Alliance and a Classical Pilates Instructor. She is a former professional modern dancer and teacher of professional and college level modern dance. She stopped dancing 7 years ago when her daughter Ella was born with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy. Julie’s search to help Ella lead her to Sonia Sumar and the Yoga for the Special Child™ training program, attending the yoga training program was Julie’s first step in recovery from severe postpartum depression. Julie practices Vipassana Meditation http://www.dhamma.org/ , Bikram Yoga http://www.bikramyogaburlington.com/ and classical Pliates http://www.naturalbodiespilates.com/pilates.html to maintain and strengthen her body, mind and spirit. She teaches yoga classes to adults and children with disabilities in Burlington, VT. www.rehabgym.com Recently, Julie started teaching and performing dance again (http://www.burlingtondances.com/ , http://www.flynncenter.org/education_pages/flynnarts.shtml.) Ella was in the front row!
Julie and her husband Dave lived a very physical and active lifestyle before Ella was born, both feeling that having a baby was not going to change that at all. Then due to a birth injury Ella was born with cerebral palsy putting a huge wrench in that plan. After a period of mourning, longer for Julie then Dave, they made a commitment to themselves and Ella that she would be involved in everything life has to offer. Dave and Julie eat well and workout daily to stay healthy and strong to lift, carry, pull or whatever it takes to involve Ella.
You never cease to amaze me. I admire your courage and strength and mostly your dedication to you daughter. I so wish I could have been there for you in those days Julie! You were always in my heart!
Love to you all!
Melanie
